In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Idris Elba has revealed that while performing a DJ set in Ibiza, he was called away to film a scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron. And who was he filming this scene with? Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth.
“Ironically, yesterday I had to…” Elba chuckles. He’s not meant to talk about this, but he clearly enjoys doing things he’s not meant to do. “I’m in Avengers,” he reveals. He means that his Thor character, deity-cum-sentry Heimdall, appears in Age of Ultron, the second instalment of the superhero ensemble franchise. “And I’m doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth [who plays Thor] and Tom Hiddleston [Loki], and they’re like, [whispers] – ‘Aren’t you [meant to be] in Ibiza?’?” [x]
It makes sense that there might come a point in Age of Ultron where Thor will want/need to return to Asgard. In a small AOU clip Marvel showed this week, Tony Stark mentioned Thor had gone off somewhere in search of answers, after Wanda Maximoff (aka the Scarlet Witch) showed him something about himself.
“Tony: Thor didn’t say where he was going for answers?
Steve: Sometimes my team-mates don’t tell me things. I was kinda hoping Thor would be the exception.
Tony: Yeah, give him time. We don’t know what the Maximoff kid showed him.”
Will the scene filmed between Thor, Heimdall and Loki be linked to Wanda’s revelation? Will she show him who truly sits on Asgard’s throne? Will Thor try to return to Asgard to confront the ‘Allfather’? Could it be the end-credit scene leading into Thor: Ragnarok? Or could it be the reason we see Thor screaming in AOU trailer? So many questions….
