New batch of Loki fanfiction recs on site

Loki fanfiction recs tend to appear on this site in drips and drabs, but this afternoon I added a small batch of fic recs after checking an email address I haven’t used in ages (but which the contact forms on this site direct mail to – oops.)

Thank you to the folks who sent in their recommendations and I apologise to those whose recs haven’t made it to the site. I am still going through some stories, but tend to try and multi-task it between other stuff. So… I’m slow. Very slow.

Meanwhile, Loki fanfic recs are still welcome – You’ll get faster result if you use the Submit form on God of Mischief’s tumblr page and include direct links to where the fic/s can be found.

If you have fic recs related to the Thor movie-verse that aren’t directly Loki-centric, please send them in also, as these will be posted to For Asgard (www.forasgard.org) when the site is back online. There are currently issues with transferring the site from one webhost to another, but that will hopefully be resolved this week.

Edited to add: The fanfic categories in the sidebar have now been fixed to reflect the correct categories when you click within them (previously they were getting jumbled), they are no longer listing the same fics twice, and there’s functioning page navigation so categories with more than 10 fics can now actually display more than 10 pics. *phew*

For the record, I am well and truly over fiddling around with php coding. Done and dusted. If anything breaks on this site again, I bloody well quit. (Kidding, kidding…)

In other news….

You may notice there’s been a slight rearrangement to the home page layout, with latest news now featuring directly under the slider rather than tucked away on the sidebar. The fanfic rec list is still here on the home page, and of course you can search for fics by setting/genre/ship in the sidebar.

The following two tabs change content below.
In a nutshell: 30-something. Mother of 3. New Zealander. Prone to escapism. Procrastinates over most things yet energised and enthusiastic when hit with alarmingly stupid and random ideas. Hasn't slept since the early-90's.

Hiddleston on the small screen as Loki…That would be a dream come true. And he’s worked on TV before, so it doesn’t seem too far fetched, especially as many Hollywood actors have and are currently, enjoying TV works. Tom also doesn’t seem quite as committed to blockbusters as Chris, he quite happily moves between stage and screen and if the script and budget were decent enough it’s possible. He also likes playing the character so that’s a bonus.
I am surprised that Thor 2 was less successful box office wise however….it did very well in the UK. Perhaps if Marvel hadn’t interfered and allowed Taylor to give us the film he wanted to things would have different. Alas, too late now.

  • eowyn

Really, since when has critics’ response had any effect on box office?  (See Transformers.)  Marvel just didn’t give Thor 2 the same marketing push that Captain America 2 and GOTG got.  The advertising for those two movies was incessant: not just commercials but free sneak previews, TV specials and other promotions.  They were also released in the “dumping ground” months of April and August, ensuring they’d face no competition from other blockbusters.

Thor 2 had far less studio hype and got released in the winter holiday season where it had to contend with the Hunger Games and Hobbit sequels, as well as Disney’s own Frozen.  Yet it still made a lot of money.  Can you imagine how much more it would have made with a better release date and an actual marketing campaign?

  • eowyn

redrascal1 As I recall, HIddleston said he would consider appearing on Agents of SHIELD.  Marvel also has a bunch of other shows coming out next year that will connect to the movie universe.  So I guess it’s possible.

  • eowyn

I have seen GOTG and was surprised to find that it reveals nothing of Thanos’s back story.  If you knew nothing about him before seeing GOTG, at the end  of it you’re still none the wiser.

  • redrascal1

Yes, I get the impression they’re saving him for a later movie. Regarding GoTG I found it terrific fun but surprisingly touching in places.
Off topic, but I can’t help but think good fanfiction has spoiled some of Marvel’s movies for me, especially in the Thor fandom. My affection for Jane Foster as a character is more because of how she’s been written in fanfic than in the movies.

  • redrascal1

I have recently read that apparently the next Avengers film begins with Jane dumping Thor for Richard. If this is true it will be one of the worst script ideas I have heard of in a long time. I’m not a fan if Thor/Jane, I think she would be terrific with Loki, but will all due respect to Chris O’ Dowd, WHAT TWIT WOULD DUMP A GOD FOR A BUSINESS EXECUTIVE?

The whole thing comes across as just an excuse to get rid of Natalie. Not satisfied into turning her into a drippy damsel in distress in Thor 2 they are going to make her into someone who needs her head looking. This is a woman who believed in other dimensions. And she’s going to settle for life as a grey suburban wifecto a grey suburban man.
I think I’ll forget the movies and stick to fanfiction in future.

Ok so since Lokane isnt happening are they going to recast Natalie Portman as Jane in order to save viewers from the horror that will be her and thor”s love scenes( and i know there will be plenty of love scenes; this movie seems like its going to be all about Chris H and im of the opinion that he is the one that orchestrated this nightmare i suspect will be a movie)? because no matter what they do to Natalie lookswise, clothing wise or other wise no one is going to believe that She and Chris are in love; their chemestry is just THAT BAD( film techniques wont  work either). And might I ask( eventhough as i have mentioned before who is behind this) what the issue was with lokane? the chemestry was there and it seems like many where all for it. and what of  Mr. Hopkins returning as Odin? somehow i wouldn’t be surprised if he didnt return seeing how the story is now going in a new direction there would really need for him to; he would not have the opportunity to be “lite”and have a bit of a sense of humor as was per his request for the this film, but now that Jane and Thor are going to stay together and his character did not approve of Thor being together, there wouldn’t be any reason for him to smile or laugh..unless of course they are going to recast him with someone else who is unlike him. Other than this the only way I could see him coming back is if at the end of Thor 3 Loki suceeds in Destroying Asgard taking Thor and everyone with him(Jane would be taken back to earth by Tony)him. *Shrug* None of this makes any sense. But on a good note I think Charleize would be a fun addition to the movie. there; i said something nice. *smile*

    Jane and Loki forever.

    Period.

lol I cant speak for you but in watching the movie i got the sense that the making of it was sort of rushed. at least that’s how it felt.

  • soradouglas16

One more question: will the next Avengers movie be the last?

  • soradouglas16

oh and i wanted to add: I DO NOT KNOW ANYONE IN CONNECTION WITH THIS FILM!

redrascal1 Oh don’t believe those rumours. That came from a report from Latino Times, with the writer claiming to have seen the first 20 or so minutes of Age of Ultron, during which time one thing he saw was a party at the Avengers Tower where Thor stood at the bar looking sad, while Jane and Richard were hanging out ‘together’ nearby.

I find it odd that they’d actually have Jane and Richard there at all, let alone Jane flaunting a relationship with Richard right before Thor’s eyes. What a load of crock.

And if this scene takes place at all, it would surely be Jane letting Richard down gently, while Thor stood nearby. But more to the point… Ultron’s going to be a pretty character-packed, action-fueled movie – why would they waste any precious part of it on Jane and Richard?

Chris Hemsworth was asked about this rumour of Thor and Jane’s break up during Ultron, and he laughed it off as a load of rubbish. I forget who interviewed him over this, but I think I posted it on thormovieverse.tumblr.com

There’s a lot of sites claiming to have spoilers relating to Thor 3, but every single one of them so far is absolutely nothing more than fan speculation. Unfortunately they’re rehashing it as “thor 3 spoilers!” because they know it’ll draw attention and keep them in google’s ranking (seriously, go google “thor 3 news” and they’ll be there, spinning their rubbish) but all they’re doing is rewording the same articles and republishing them to make their content look fresh. They’re even taking old interviews with Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth from late 2013 and reposting it as “new info.” Or “the cast has leaked spoilers.” It’s really all just a load of nonsense.

soradouglas16 No there will be an Avengers 3 – many folk speculate that this will be the movie where the Avengers have to face off against Thanos himself, but… Who knows.

soradouglas16 Do you mean there’ll be plenty of love scenes in… Thor 3?

So far there has been no confirmation about any of the plot regarding Thor 3, so as to what kind of scenes there will be between Thor and Jane, this is entirely up in the air at the moment. The scriptwriters are still working on all of that. I wouldn’t be surprised if they leave Jane out of it more this time around, and focus more on Thor trying to get Asgard out of the clutches of Loki and whatever mischief he causes… Given that Loki has the throne, I’d say there’ll be a lot more of him than there was previously, although at the end of the day it’s still Thor’s movie and as the title character, we should expect him to have more screen time.

It’s still a mystery as to what has happened to Odin. There is no confirmation that Loki killed him (earlier reports that Kevin Feige had confirmed this were wrong – he was in fact talking of Loki’s death) and although Anthony Hopkins was said to have claimed “it’s done. Odin is dead.” this is to be taken with a grain of salt, as even Hopkins likely wouldn’t know what’s happened to Odin at this point. Given how frail he was looking during Thor 2 (at one point doubling over in pain before Thor’s eyes) It’s more likely that he collapsed into the Odinsleep. and Loki decided to seize the opportunity that was before him.

There will be no Lokane in canon. Best stick to fanfic for that one. Honestly I hope they don’t give Loki a love interest at all – he’s hardly in the right mind to give a fat rats for anyone other than himself, and his story is not one that *needs* a love interest.

  • redrascal1

I actually wouldn’t mind if they never do a Thor 3 – Thor 2 was not what I thought it would be, and I’m finding I prefer fanfic more these days; a lot of the authors seem to have more talent than the movie scriptwriters. At least Thor 2 ended on a good note with Loki on the throne. If all they do with Thor 3 is kill him off I’d rather they not do it.
I’m really going to miss him in Avengers 2, by the way!

So a sequel has already been announced for the Ninja Turtles movie, including a release date.  But still no update on Thor 3.

Ninja Turtles made $65 million its first weekend, and is projected to make $160-180 million domestic overall.

Thor 3:  $86 million first weekend, over $200 million domestic.

    I don’t get it.

    • Ninja Turtles are the product of an entirely different studio than that of the Thor movies. Also, TMNT is not part of a larger movie universe in the way that Thor is. I suppose before they can give a definitive answer on Thor’s release date, they have to decide just how the plot will work in to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If the events of Thor 3 lead directly into Avengers 3, then that’s probably why it’s not coming out in 2016 (as well as the fact that their key actors are all booked up on other movies for a while yet) And then with at least couple of movie scheduled to take place before Thor 3, they may want to wait a little and see what happens in their stories and how they might in turn affect the events of Thor 3. We’ll probably have to wait until next year before they announce their next line up of Marvel movies. Fingers crossed Thor 3 will be a part of it.

I agree to that loki’s character should remain by himself now that he and Jane arent to be together… having a woman by his side who doesn’t have the same chemistry as Jane  would be a gross insult to his character considering what Thom H  brings to the role… charm, good looks, sex appeal no human ought to be born with etc. As far as women go Loki deserves nothing but the best under his arm and anything less just wont do.

Give his character the respect that’s deserved and let him remain by himself.

  • soradouglas16

    On  Elena Satine (Lorelei)

Love interest? lolol more like friends with benefits. I see that they would have great sexual chemistry but other than that there’s really nothing there..no spark.  She’s beneath him in my opinion.

Oops, you’re right.  Too late to edit typos now…

    It’s still weird.

I have to wait… until 2017….. to see Loki again??? This is the most depressing news since I found out that he wouldn’t be in the next Avengers movie.

  • KneelMewlingQuims

I find it highly insulting that you people think that I need a transcript of Thor: The Dark World… Do you honestly thing that I haven’t memorized this??
