Police and various government agencies (including S.H.I.E.L.D, HYDRA and a squadron of stormtroopers borrowed from a May the 4th Star Wars con) have been called in to bring order to the ensuing chaos, as 100,000 fans take to the streets in global hysteria over the release of a Thor Ragnarok logo.
Unfortunately, no one thought to do a ten second google check over the authenticity of the logo, which turned out to be nothing other than fanart.
That’s right folks, it’s fanart. Fan art. Fan art. Rather convincingly authentic looking FAN ART.
My goodness, the person who initially made the Tumblr post that gained over 100,000 notes even went so far as to add a release date for added “authenticity”.
Please folks, stop reblogging this logo under the assumption that it is the real thing. There has been no official announcement regarding the Thor 3 release date. I think I said that in my last post, but it bears repeating.
And May 2016 is actually the official release schedule for Captain America 3.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: The Thor: Ragnarok logo is fanart. Marvel have not yet disclosed a title, release date or plot outine for Thor 3.
You’ve been Loki’d. The trickster himself couldn’t have done it better. We can all go home now and drink some tea, or whatever it is we do, until the real announcement comes along.
You know, even if the folks at Marvel were thinking of making ‘Ragnarok’ the title of Thor 3, they probably won’t now in case a fan artist sues them for plagiarism.. Because somehow, that’s actually possible.
