Since Idris Elba (Heimdall) recently slipped that he filmed a scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron alongside Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor), the entire planet1)of course I’m not exaggerating here has been buzzing with speculation as to the purpose of their scene. A flashback? A vision given to Thor by Wanda Maximoff? An end-credit scene leading into Thor: Ragnarok?
Now there’s a chance there may be an additional scene for Loki in AoU, with a report by the Daily Mail that Marvel has asked the cast (including Hiddleston) to make themselves available for two weeks of additional filming in January.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Tom Hiddleston (bad-guy Loki) have all been asked to make themselves available over a two-week period in January to film additional scenes at Pinewood Studios. Eh, but before anyone gets their hopes up too much, this is just an early blanket notice advising the cast to be available if required. Damnit. I wish I could have just left that part out. I liked this entire piece of news so much better before I read to the end of the Daily Mail’s article and discovered the actors may not be required to film additional scenes at all. But what the hell. There’s no harm in collectively hoping Joss Whedon will find a way to write in an extra Loki scene without it looking like a piece of cheap fan service. Right?
