New rumors have made their way onto the mill. Loki will have a major role to play in both part one and part two of Avengers: Infinity War. This news comes from DigitalSpy:
It has been confirmed that Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will feature heavily in the new batch of Marvel films recently announced.
My brief effort to dig further into DigitalSpy’s source of information has only turned up what we already know from the original announcements – that Loki’s sceptre will feature in Avengers: Infinity War. This comes with confirmation that the gem within it is in fact an infinity stone.
I wonder if this has in turn simply lead to the assumption that Loki himself will be involved in these movies?
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Loki in the Infinity Wars. The chance that he might side with the Avengers to defeat Thanos is something I’ve long hoped for. And being that Tom Hiddleston will still have a couple of movies left in his contract after Thor: Ragnarok, and he’s one of Marvel’s biggest cash cows next to Robert Downey Jr, I suppose it’s a given that even Ragnarok itself couldn’t keep Loki out of a picture for long.
But while it does make sense for the story of Loki and Thanos to finally come full circle, the question of Loki’s survival was bound to weigh heavily amid fans between now and Thor 3’s release date. (July 28, 2017.) It just seems a bit odd for them to answer that so soon. Like… Spoilers much?
UPDATE: It appears DigitalSpy has removed their article. Perhaps they revealed something that was meant to be ‘off the record’? Or perhaps they made a mistake in posting speculation as fact?
